Two Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
