19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
